The Approach

There is very little value in learning something, and then not having the knowledge of how to use it.

The Visual Mindscape Online Courses are designed so that each lecture goes beyond the introduction and discussion of each topic.

Each module delves into detail as to the purpose behind each tool, and more importantly, explains ‘how’ you establish the skill necessary to bring these tools into play in your own screenwriting.

The Four Dimensions of Character

Characters are a collection of qualities; not just the qualities that we observe, but the qualities beneath that create the outer character.

This lecture explores through Behavioral Elements how to develop fully dimensional characters, and how to reveal their inner engine by defining the four primary forces at play in all of us.

A clear understanding of these forces defines the character's needs, motivation and point of view. It also keeps both the inner and outer journey of the protagonist and the antagonist active throughout the script.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Defining and finding the Inner Qualities of Characters that create the outer qualities
  • Learning Behavioral Elements of fully enhanced Character development
  • Exploring the Four Primary Character Forces
  • Creating fully dimensional Antagonists
  • Creating Character Introductions that are sharp, visceral and remain memorable to the reader
